Himalayan Sandstone is a sedimentary rock made up of grains of quartz and feldspar sands that are cemented together with minerals like silicates, iron oxides, limonite, clay and calcite. Sandstones made of silica are especially hard, strong and resist decay, and these silica sandstones are often used for outdoor tiles and pavers.
Sandstone pavers or tiles are often found around swimming pools and add a touch of elegance to them, though sandstone that’s not sealed might be subjected to moisture damage, especially if the water in the swimming pool is chlorinated. Because sandstone is porous, it shouldn’t be cleaned with acid based cleansers. Sandstone responds well to poultices, which are inert chemicals that are applied to areas of dirt, oil, metallic stains or even lichens, algae and salt deposits to remove them.
